We work at the materials-biology interface with applications to water treatment processes, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. We have particular expertise in (1) membrane technology and (2) bacterial adhesion/biofilms. Our research approach is interdisciplinary, we use a range of state-of-the art techniques and we have a number of exciting collaborations. Our work spans fundamental research (funded by the European Research Council) to applied (funded by Enterprise Ireland and Industry partners). We attract visiting researchers from around the world and are always keen to expand our team with new students and researchers, participate in new academic collaborations and develop new commercial opportunities with industry.
